Arizona Premier Scout Team Holding Baseball Tryouts

The Arizona Premier Scout Teams (APST) is looking for baseball players in the 12u age bracket to tryout. Tryouts will be held Saturday May 15 at Dysart High School, 11425 N. Dysart Rd., El Mirage from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday May 16 at Phoenix College, 1202 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix from 4 -5:30 pm and Saturday May 22 at Gene Autry Park, 4125 E. McKellips Rd., Mesa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tryouts are by registration only. Arizona Premier Baseball is a coalition of organizations dedicated to youth development through baseball.

13u Wins Veterans USSSA Tournament

AZ CLASH 13u Team Takes Championship

AZ C.L.A.S.H. (Character, Leadership, Attitude, Stature & Heart) participated in the USSSA Veterans Memorial tournament this past weekend at Big League Dreams and Victory Lane Sports Complex.
The 13U team coached by Executive Director Shane Hesse and Assistant Coach Dennis Murphy went 4-1 over the weekend. Hesse stated “The boys exemplified everything that the AZ C.L.A.S.H. stands for, they played hard and showed tremendous respect. The 13U team is made up of players from Gilbert & Tempe.
Gilbert resident Tony Pomonis was named Tournament MVP by his team mates. Pomonis attends Higley Elementary School and is the son of Keith and Aimee Pomonis.

Daniel Casey of the 14u CLASH Placed 3rd Nationally

Daniel Casey just returned from Hershey, PA where he competed in the Standing Long Jump at the National Hershey Track and Field Meet on Saturday, August 1st. He finished 3rd in the Country with a jump of 8'10.5". He enjoyed the event which ran July 30 through August 2nd. He visited Hershey's Chocolate Factory, Hershey Amusement Park, and met Carl Lewis who was on hand to inspire the young athletes. He was one of 7 competitors from Arizona ages 8 to 14. According his chaperon, Daniel's 3rd place finish is the highest for an Arizona athlete in the past 10 years of this national competition. Gilbert Resident Named Coach of the Year

Daniel Contreras, of Gilbert has been named Coach of the Year for the Arizona C.L.A.S.H. ( Character, Leadership, Attitude, Stature and Heart) Coach Contreras is a native Arizonan. He and his lovely wife, Laura, live in Gilbert with their three children, Matt, Ryan, and Jordyn. He attended Red Mountain High School and played semi-professional ball with the Milwaukee Brewers Organization, as a second baseman. After baseball, he attained his Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and is currently working as a Facilities Engineer for the Boeing Company. He began coaching while still in high school with his younger brother's little league teams and has been at it ever since. Coach Contreras specializes in young player development, but enjoys working with all ages. He is always available for one-on-one instruction and thoroughly enjoys teaching the fundamentals of baseball or what he considers "the greatest game ever played". --30—

Baseball Speed Training Seminar, AZ C.L.A.S.H. College Prep and Pro Scout Organization is offering strength training seminars for $480 for C.L.A.S.H, members and $600 for non- C.L.A.S.H. members beginning June 9. Sessions are held at Phoenix College Track and conducted by Phil Habib. The baseball speed training seminar is a 16 session program spread over eight weeks. The AZ C.L.A.S.H. is beginning a developmental travel baseball team for boys 8 and under. This is a perfect opportunity for young boys to continue playing baseball while Little League has finished. Tryouts are underway and the season will begin August 15.
This is a great atmosphere for the kids and their development; ran by Executive Director Shane Hesse of AZ C.L.A.S.H. There are low costs involved and booster club opportunities are available for parents needing scholarships.

This intensive program is offered the beginning of January 2009 and will consist of Prep workouts and intrasquad games to improve skills and be game ready for the start of the High School season. Athletes will be provided with the same training regimen as our National Collegiate Prep Teams and Pro Scout Prep Programs.

AZ C.L.A.S.H Families sponsor the East Valley Child Crisis Center. They have 30 Children in their care that deserve a good Christmas. If every player could donate a non-wrapped item or a cash donation I can purchase what every child has on their wish list. Remember these children still have the faith that Santa Clause still exists so as a C.L.A.S.H. Family lets make this happen for them.
I have a list of all items and sizes of each child including their name and age. Please contact me at 480-280-5800 or mcelyea5696@hotmail.com to let me know what you would be able to contribute.
Along with gifts for the children the Crisis Center is also in need of everyday items for the children as well as gift certificates to the movies and restaurants so they can treat the kids all year long not only during the holidays. All Items must be to me by Dec. 19th in order for me to get them to the shelter.

Deer Valley Resident Goes Above and Beyond Being a Baseball Coach for the Arizona C.L.A.S.H.
Justin Hesse, Co -Executive Director of the Arizona C.L.A.S.H. (Character, Leadership, Attitude, Stature and Heart) has spent 9 years as a head and assistant coach at the high school level. He has helped sign over 280 student-athletes to scholarships; this includes nine players who have joined the professional ranks.
Hesse’s philosophy on baseball and youth sports is simple, “To develop the athlete to the best of his ability; to expose him to the most opportunities and to put him again the best competition in the nation”. The Arizona C.L.A.S.H. Program also participates in Community Service at the VA and Children’s Hospital and has helped raised over $250,000 in the past year and a half with C.L.A.S.H. Booster Club.
Hesse first started his coaching career in 2001 for the Arizona C.L.A.S.H. and then continued to help local High Schools in the Valley. He started with Cactus High School in 2003, assisted the program to a 4A Regional Championship. Hesse then moved to Gilbert High School in 2004 where he assisted the program to a 5A State Championship where they placed Runner’s up. Hesse also received 5A Coaching Staff of the Year in 2004.
Hesse graduated from Scottsdale Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He also received his Bachelors Degree in Business and Speech Communication from Eastern Michigan University and just recently graduated from the University of Phoenix with his Masters Degree in Business.
Hesse continues to instruct aspiring athletes with the Arizona C.L.A.S.H. College Prep and Scout teams through American Premier Baseball.

The Clash Collegiate Prep and Scout Organization to offer High School Baseball Prep Program

Prepare frosh, sophs, juniors & senior impact players for the >upcoming 2009 High School Baseball Season. Intensive program offered Jan 2009 will consist of Prep workouts and intrasquad games to improve skills and be game ready for the start of the High School season.

Athletes will be provided with the same training regimen as our National Collegiate Prep Teams and Pro Scout Prep Programs. Prep workouts; January 7, 14, 21 & 28 8 - 9:30 am

Intra Squad Games; January 11, 18, 25 10 am - 1 pm All sessions located at Phx College. Open to the first 18 high school frosh, sophs, juniors or seniors.

What is Cornhole? It has been called many things: Corn Toss, Bean Bag, Bean Toss, Soft Horseshoes, Indiana Horseshoes, but to many of us born in the Midwest, the game is passionately referred to as cornhole. The game is great fun for all ages and can be played anywhere! Cornhole or Corn Toss is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. If any bag is touching the ground in any way it does not count.Where: Phoenix, Arizona at Deer Valley Park. Deer Valley Park is located in-between Union Hills and the 101 on 19th Ave.

Format: Pool play with top two seeds in each bracket advancing to the championship bracket. Bottom two teams advancing to consolation bracket. Only the winners of each bracket in the championship bracket round will advance to a single elimination semi final and final round. Same goes for the consolation bracket; however only the winners of the championship bracket will win the cash prize.

Prizes: 50% of all proceeds are given to first place and 25% goes to second place. 25% will be donated to a scholarship fund for the Clash Baseball youth and non-profit baseball organization.

Cost: $25 per team
Registration: Register online by visiting the payments tab on this website; must be completed by October 19th at noon; no exceptions, to reserve your spot in the tournament: Brackets will be emailed to you by Tuesday the 21st.

When: 10AM until dusk on Saturday, October 25, 2008

The Arizona CLASH College Prep and Pro-Scout Baseball Organization is hosting baseball tryouts on August 10 & 17 at Phoenix Country Day High School ages 9-18. Times are as follows: On August 10th, 9-12U - 9:00am, 13-15U – 10:00am, & 16-18U - 11:00am. On August 17th, 9-14U – 9:00am, and 15-18U at noon.

In addition to its highly successful High School and College Prep programs, the CLASH offers a 9-14 year-old program competing locally with Triple Crown, USSSA, Super Series, and the Arizona Junior Premier League, as well as nationally with USA Baseball, Junior Olympics and American Premier Scout Teams. The CLASH coaching staff, consisting of ex-Pro players and scouts, College coaches and players, and local High School coaches is second to none, and dedicated to preparing your son for success at the next level, either in High School, College, or beyond.

The CLASH’S Josh Moody was drafted in the 29th round by the Atlanta Braves.

Casey Simmerman, Seton Catholic, was named First Team East Valley Tribune All-State (1A-4A) & 4A East Sky All Region - Honorable Mention

Matt Anderson, Andrew Ray, and Daniel Tate were named to the 4A All State teams. Jamie Garrido made 5A All State Honorable Mention.

VERITAS Junior High baseball Coaches Award

Dallas Nordbye, only in 8th grade this coming school year, was one of 16 selected for the Desert Ridge High School team. Dallas was a starter the entire season, playing multiple positions each game. Dallas ended the season pitching the final game and closed the last inning with 3 strikeouts!

In keeping with CLASH’s community awareness values, Dallas volunteered to coach 2 youth summer baseball camps at Desert Ridge HS. We couldn't be more proud of our CLASH 13u team member!

Kenny Hatcher, from Gilbert, has been in the CLASH Organization for 4 years and is a leader on the Senior Summer APST Team.

Kenny has made the CLASH family proud, as he was recently chosen for the American Premier West All-Star Team. Along with Mike DiBiasi, a CLASH teammate and former
Gilbert High School teammate, Hatcher competed with the Premier All-Star team at the American Premier World Series in Cincinnati Ohio from 7/16-7/20/2008.

14U CLASH Scout Team takes Ted Heid's Summer Nationals

The CLASH American Premier Scout Team completed a week of grueling, highly competitive baseball by defeating the All Star BB by the run rule, 10 – 2 in the championship game of Ted Heid's Summer Nationals in Peoria.

The week began a bit tentatively in pool play where our team went 3 -2, as it took a few games for the talented APST to get their confidence and their bats going against older, strong opponents. In the elimination bracket confidence began to mount; sparked by huge blasts by Parker Gallegos, the tournament MVP, the team caught fire in the semifinal event. Down 7 -0 in the 4th inning hits by Gallegos and Steven Wittkamp spurred on the rest of the squad to come roaring back with 2 runs in the 5th and 7 more in the 6th inning, to shock a formidable Utah Baseball Academy squad 9 - 7.

Tanner Metro shut down the big bats of the baseball Academy in the final innings for the save. Coach Keegan Bassett said that it was "probably my most satisfying win as a coach".

The hot bats continued in the Finals with the support of a complete game outing by Steven Wittkamp. "Our confidence just continued to build as the tournament progressed" remarked Coach Bassett. "It seemed that once we realized what we were capable of, there was no stopping us"

The entire tournament was played in typical CLASH fashion. Sportsmanship, passion and focus were displayed throughout the entire week. Whether the team was up or down, everyone displayed the professionalism that the CLASH Organization prides itself on. Always keeping their emotions in check the team showed why they are considered an elite 14U Scout Team. The team, coaching staff and parents who supported the boys throughout deserve a big thank you for providing everyone with a fun, rewarding week.

Phoenix, AZ — The AZ CLASH Baseball Organization’s young athletes will be volunteering at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital on July 15th to promote “Drowning Impact Awareness”. Players will be assembling more than 30,000 purple ribbons on information cards. August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month and with the AZ CLASH Volunteers the Phoenix Children’s Hospital will be able to dispense the ribbons to local community organizations and fire stations.
