AZ CLASH Takes 2 Championships
AZ CLASH Takes 2 Championships
Tempe, AZ.— AZ CLASH (Character, Leadership, Attitude, Stature &
Heart) participated in the Loren Schmidgall Youth Memorial Tournament
this past weekend at Tempe Sports Complex. This annual tournament is
held in honor of Loren Schmidgall, a Valley teenager who was killed
several years ago when he was struck on his bicycle. Schmidgall loved
baseball and his parents want to remind young athletes what it means to
play the game they love.
The 12U team coached by Dan Contreras went 4-0 over the weekend.
Contreras stated “The boys exemplified everything that the AZ CLASH
stands for, they played hard and showed tremendous respect to the
Schmidgall family and played to win in honor of Loren.” The 12U team is
made up of players all over the Valley.
The 14U team coached by Tyler Bassett “Came out and played hard.”
Bassett contributes his winning not only to strong defense and timely
hitting, but the phenomenal pitching by Alan Frank of Scottsdale,
Michael Gammon of Chandler and Dustin Wells of Glendale.

AZ CLASH Athletes Receive Trip to Denver
Local Athletes Receive Trip to Denver
Phoenix, AZ.— From eight states and eighty kids trying out for a spot
to go to Denver Colorado’s “Opportunity Through Baseball” program,
brothers Marcus (eleven) and Parker (fourteen) Gallegos were chosen to
fill one of ten spots.
“Opportunity Through Baseball” gives kids the opportunity to play
baseball and learn how to be a respectful and responsible citizen. This
process includes a tryout of throwing, hitting, fielding and running in
front of selected coaches and members of the organization.
The Gallegos brothers will spend three weeks in Denver not only
learning how to play baseball but how to become responsible young men.
They will stay in a dorm and have to clean their rooms, make their beds
and do their own laundry; they have to look after themselves and to be
self sufficient. They will receive daily instruction about baseball and life.
The Gallegos brothers are members of the AZ CLASH. Parker Gallegos
said “AZ CLASH has made him the ball player that he is today and I am
able to take all those skills with me to Denver. The AZ CLASH has also
taught me to be a role model and respect my parents for all that they do.”
Parker feels “Being selected to go to Denver is absolutely amazing,
although this is not my first time going it is my Brother Marcus’ first time
and I am so proud of him.”
NEWS RELEASE
The boy’s mother Mickie said “When I told Marcus that he was chosen
with his brother Parker to go to Denver he just about cried.” Marcus
stated “When I found out I was chosen out of all those kids it was the
happiest moment of my life and I am glad that I get to go with my
brother.” Marcus attributed his success to the training that has been
provided to him by the AZ CLASH. Dad Troy feels “Being selected to go
to Denver will make the boys see themselves as talented athletes and
teach them responsibilities and good core values.”
Shane Hesse, Executive Director of the AZ CLASH stated “I was not at
all surprised to hear that Parker and Marcus were chosen, both are
tremendous athletes and great role models. I was thrilled to hear they are
able to use the knowledge, skills and work ethic gained from their AZ
CLASH experiences.
